Cory Branan jump starts 2013 on the road with Gaslight Anthem, Bouncing Souls, and Jon Snodgrass

Cory Branan is hitting the road again in early 2013, a one-off with Glossary, and consecutive stretches of dates with Jon Snodgrass in February and Gaslight Anthem and Bouncing Souls in March.

In 2012, Branan was a busy man. In May, he released his Bloodshot debut album MUTT and toured both by himself across the U.S. and with Chuck Ragan’s Revival Tour across the U.S. and Europe (alongside Laura Jane Grace of Against Me!, Dan Andriano of Alkaline Trio, Jay Malinowski of Bedouin Soundclash, and many others). You can read Cory’s humorous recap of the European Revival Tour, complete with candid photos, over on Blogshot.

New Digital Only "Best of" Collections Available on iTunes

Well we dusted off the ol' Suggestions Box we keep in the office and found that folks are looking for a quick and easy way to sample the best of the best of some of our artists, something that will sift through some rather large catalogs for them and put together one hell of a playlist.

We obey your commands.

Thus, we have launched "Choice Cuts"---a series of digital only compilations that cull 12 tunes from some of our artists in one easy to swallow package at one even easier to swallow price.  They are available only on iTunes.

So, whether you are looking to explore some heretofore unknown music, something you might have missed, or desirous of having a concise collection by an artist you already love, Choice Cuts is for you.

To kick it off, we've released

The Waco Brothers (Volume One)

Devil In A Woodpile

Wayne "The Train" Hancock

Rex Hobart & the Misery Boys

Murder by Death announces 2013 tour with MAN MAN

MURDER BY DEATH ANNOUNCE
CO-HEADLINE TOUR WITH MAN MAN

Murder By Death have announced they will be joining up with Man Man for a co-headline tour starting February 7, 2013 at the Black Cat in Washington, D.C. The tour is set to hit parts of the East Coast, then proceed across the Gulf Coast, and head north through the Midwest and Upper East Coast, until it concludes on March 2 at Union Transfer in Man Man’s native Philadelphia, PA.

See full tour dates HERE!

Get their latest album Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon on CD, LP, digital and, we've got just a few left, the DELUXE edition LP

“This rollicking clash between light and dark gives the album a kind of macabre tent-revival feeling…This level of immersion alone make Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon worth the time it takes to give it a listen, and the fact that the album is filled with killer songs to slam bourbon to is really just icing on the (probably arsenic-laced) cake.”

End of Lydia Loveless Tour Cancelled

Lydia Loveless had to cancel the rest of her tour.  (insert frowny emoticon here).

She has been sick since Thanksgiving and last night in Northampton MA she lost her voice.   The band debated taking off a day or two and keeping the weekend dates but it doesn't sound like she is getting better anytime soon.  She just hit the wall cuz, well, dang, she's been on the road the better part of the year.

Not the way they wanted to end the year but we think we can say they gave it all they had.

Cancelled dates:

12-05 The Fire  Philadelphia PA

12-06 DC9  Washington, DC
12-07 Hampton Taphouse  Hampton, VA
12-08 The Abbey Bar  Harrisburg, VA

2013 will see a fresh and rested Lydia and we hope to get her back to those cities as soon as we can.  Sorry about that.

Bloodshot signs Luke Winslow-King!

LWK

Bloodshot Records is very excited to announce the signing of New Orleans-based artist Luke Winslow-King. Luke initially caught our ear with his unique style, emerging from the ashes of Delta blues, New Orleans traditional jazz, ragtime, and pre-war American folksong. After being transfixed watching Luke and singer/washboard player Esther Rose perform gorgeous duets at a noisy college bar in Chicago we were straight up hooked. His amalgam of sounds is full of culture and texture, and respectively Winslow-King’s knowledge of music history and attention to detail are nearly as captivating as his impeccable song compositions, guitar technique, and warm voice.

As for a little background detail: in 2010, already with two full-length albums under his belt, LWK formed a trio consisting of Rose and upright bass player Cassidy Holden that remains the namesake’s core incarnation. In June the group self released the exceptional The Coming Tide and after being bowled over, we knew Luke and Co. would make a great addition to the roster.

In March 2013 Bloodshot will re-release The Coming Tide with bonus tracks and new packaging.

Below is the remainder of the LWK’s show dates in 2012, with many more to come in the new year. He and the group tour extensively—roughly 175 performances over the last year—so keep an eye out for them in your area.

November 29 @ Ogden After Hours
November 30 @ Hermes Bar
December 6 @ Three Muses
December 13 @ Three Muses
December 16 @ Antoine’s brunch

* All shows in New Orleans, LA

NORA O'CONNOR on the road with KELLY HOGAN

So I'm at the Hideout the other night, doling out soup for a fundraiser thrown by the good folks at Soup & Bread, and Nora O'Connor stops by.  She offhandedly remarks that she'll be playing bass on Kelly Hogan's upcoming tour in addition to singing her sweet backing vocals.

"JESUS CHRIST" I yelled, "THIS is the kind of thing you need to tell us in advance!"

So, there you have it.  Go catch two of the finest voices on the planet together on the same stage.

Furthermore, both of them have albums on sale during our YEAR END BLOWOUT sale!

Graham Parker and the Rumour album Release; Solo LP's back in the house!

Graham Parker has reunited with his legendary band the RUMOUR and the album, THREE CHORDS GOOD, is out TODAY and we've got it for sale!

Read a nice long interview in the Wall Street Journal about GP, the movie and the new album HERE

Finally, his last solo album Imaginary Television sold out of the vinyl lickety-split, HOWEVER,  we recently got a couple dozen back from a European distributor, and we're offering them up to at a first-come-first-serve basis.  So get on the stick...
