The brand new Rosie Flores music video for Rosie's song "Yeah Yeah," a tribute to the late, great Duane Jarvis (who appears on our 'Nashville: The Other Side of the Alley' compilation), is now live below! The song is from Ms. Flores's fierce 2012 Bloodshot album 'Working Girl's Guitar.'
This video is dedicated to my dear friend Duane Jarvis, who played live shows, co-wrote with me, and recorded with me while I lived in LA with my backing band The Bad Boys for 10 years. Sheryl Crow used to come and see us play before she was famous (and recently told me she loved us!). I think a great part of her digging our sound was because of the players: Donald Lindley on drums, Duane Jarvis on electric guitars (who both were taken early by cancer), Dusty Wakeman on electric bass, and the incomparable Greg Leisz on steel and electric guitars (who by the way is playing Pedal Steel on this song).
I wrote this song with Rachel Gladstone and Pat Gallagher the day before the the tribute show that I organized for Duane, which included performances by John Prine, Buddy Miller, Jim Lauderdale, Steve Fishell, Tammy Rogers, Amelia White, Travis Stevens, and many more of his close musical friends at The Basement in Nashville, who were there to honor our brother.
We believe that DJ, as we called him, was in the room while this song was being born, with his divine spirit leading us on a path to write about what if feels like to spread his love and energy and keep on keeping on. Being someone who has had to deal with this disease with my own family and close friends, it hits me deep in the heart. We hope that the cancer foundations will hurry and find a cure for the worst disease of our lives. May you all stay healthy and keep fighting if you have it. Others can perhaps donate here to help to find a cure.
