As we're mourning the loss of The Purple One, Lydia Loveless chatted with Rolling Stone about Prince's impact on her, as well as what it was like recording "I Would Die 4 U" for last year's Record Store Day single with Cory Branan.
Two years ago we made a lot of you angry by way of an April Fool's Joke in which we said we were releasing a Prince tribute double album. Y'all were capital "P" PISSED. Again, sorry.
We mentioned the joke to Lydia Loveless and Cory Branan and they both said "we'll cover Prince!" So then we were able to appease you Paisley Bloodshot fans with the infamous purple vinyl Lydia/Cory "I Would Die 4 U/Under the Cherry Moon" single, which we released almost exactly a year ago today (the 18th).
We didn't originally think about how much overlap there would be between Bloodshot and Prince fans, but we should have. He was ubiquitous and affected us all.
