UPDATE: Here is a list of Chicago watering holes carrying the Lagunitas Bloodshot Few Brew on draft, while supplies last. (Locations in other cities TBD.)
Lizard's Liquid Lounge
We're closing out our 21st birthday celebration by collaborating with our longtime friends Lagunitas Brewing Company for a special limited edition beer, to be released in January 2016.
This past summer, Bloodshot joined forces with Evanston, IL distillery Few Spirits to release a small batch bourbon whiskey. The Lagunitas “Bloodshot Few Brew,” brewed at Lagunitas’s Chicago brewery, is composed of Lagunitas Imperial Stout aged in the exact barrels from which the Bloodshot/Few Spirits bourbon was derived. The brewers added some smoked tea tips resulting in a smoky, tobacco-y, dark chocolate-y aroma with slight bourbon-like notes. The release is part of Lagunitas’s OneHitter series and will only be available on draft in select bars and music venues. The “Bloodshot Few Brew” will be tapped in Chicago, as well as additional American cities to be announced.
“We have worked and played with our friends at Bloodshot for years”, said Karen Hamilton, Lagunitas’s Director of Communications. “From groovin’ together around Chicago to CouchTrippin at their annual Yard Dog party at SXSW in Austin, our shared love of music (and beer) runs deep. We couldn’t think of a better way to bring it all full circle. Happy Anniversary Bloodshot!”
Bloodshot co-founder/owner Rob Miller adds “We've enthusiastically imbibed Lagunitas libations for years via our SXSW parties, local showcases, or just skulking around favorite watering holes on school nights. And it is a rare occasion when the BSHQ fridge doesn't have numerous bottles of their hooch crowding out the expired sour cream dip and leftover tacos… Which is why we couldn't be happier and more proud to have collaborated with them on the Lagunitas Bloodshot Few Brew. And it’s an offspring of our Few Spirits bourbon, which is simply perfect.”
Commemorating the release of the limited edition beer, there will be a live public event held at Schubas Tavern (3159 N Southport Ave, Chicago, IL) on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016 featuring performances by Lydia Loveless and Jon Langford, Lagunitas Bloodshot Few Brew tastings, and the first sale of the limited run beer. Doors open at 7:30PM. Admission is $15. Advance tickets can be purchased HERE.
Infamous Chicago musician and visual artist Jon Langford applied his signature painting style to a Bloodshot Few Brew barrel (pictured above) at Lagunitas Chicago to create the official artwork for the collaborative beer. The barrel will be on display at the release event at Schubas and then at the Lagunitas Chicago Taproom.
