We can't imagine a better way to sum up the simultaneously debilitating and invigorating #SXSW experience than with these Gapers Block tour diaries by Deano of The Waco Brothers, the undisputed, undefeated, unofficial champions of SXSW. Amidst the debaucherous accounts, Deano hits the nail on the head in terms of what it's like for us and our brethren at the giant behemoth of a festival.
Here's a great example: "Look, I'm aware of the ugly, corporate side of SX.... It's easy to point to the "Doritos Stage" downtown and show contempt. But it's also easy to avoid the lunkheads at the corporate events and see some of the greatest music you will ever encounter, in an environment that could exist nowhere else."
Some other notable excerpts:
"A SX lesson learned over the years. Play as many shows as you possibly can. Even a broken watch is right twice a day."
"My only intake of fruits and vegetables this week has consisted of lime juice and salsa."
"As we're setting up, Tracey hands Joe a bottle of Vitamin Water and neglects to tell him that it's filled with tequila. Joe takes what he thinks is going to be a big, refreshing gulp and has to fight to keep it down!"
