Bottle Rockets Release Day Tidbits

Today the Bottle Rockets new album hits the shelves, or "drops" as we say in the biz.  (Personally, I hate that term, as dropping something, other than a toxic boy/girlfriend, is rarely a good thing, but that's a discussion for another day).

Anyway,  thanks to all the folks who pre-ordered the record.  The first 40 of you got an autographed poster, and everyone was entered in a random drawing for a couple of nifty things for the inner BROX geek in all of us.

The winners are: Tammy Stowe of Union MO won the autographed pick guard from Brian's Telecaster, and Brian Leahy of Georgetown MA won the autographed snare drum head.  Congratulations.  I am sure they will be worthy additions to the shrines you have in your basement and/or garage.

Finally, here's a release day review from their St Louis hometown.

A release day message from Exene

Today is the release of Exene Cervenka's new album, The Excitement of Maybe.

It is a genuine thrill and honor to have someone of her cailber in our humble and musically-dorky little family.  She sent this note to her fans for us to post today:

"hi everyone who cares! thank you xxxso much for the positive, loving, kind comments about excitement of maybe! it means a lot to me to know you are there and that what i do brings something meaningful into your lives. i am so happy today, i worked hard (but it sure was fun!) on these songs and the recording.  so again thank you as always for listening!!! love exene"

New Record from Eddie Spaghetti to start 2011 in style!

That's right, brothers and sisters.  Supersucker Brother Number One has got a new solo record "in the can" (as we say in the biz) and it's ready to sock it to your eardrums in February 2011.

It's called Sundowner and Eddie still wears his love of country and a good party on his flannel sleeve.  In addition to originals, there are killer covers of Dean Martin, Del Reeves, Dave Dudley and those C&W crooners The Dwarves!

Justin Townes Earle talks about his new record

Justin's been finishing up his next record, Harlem River Blues (due out September 2010), and he took some time before opening for some band called The Swell Season to talk about it to Paste Magazine. He gives us skinny on producing, how moving to NYC influenced and the magic of having Jason Isbell on it.  Have a read HERE.
