Today Is the 20th Annual Bloodshot Records SXSW Day Party at Yard Dog Art (A Reflection)

March 20th, 2015 by bsradmin

Here we are. Today is the 20th Annual Bloodshot Records Yard Dog Art Day Party at SXSW! Back in 1996, Bloodshot and Yard Dog Folk Art Gallery in Austin, TX joined forces to bring some organic, homespun fun to the craven, corporate glad-handing and back-slapping nexus of the music industry: the South by Southwest music conference. We slapped together a stage, got a couple kegs of beer, and hoped some folks would show to see the likes of the Old 97's and The Waco Brothers. Boy, did they show up. And they KEPT showing up! Every dang year, and they brought friends, then their friends brought friends, and now it may be the longest continuous running party at this thing.

This year we welcome The Waco Brothers, Bobby Bare, Jr., Luke Winslow-King, Banditos, JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, Rosie Flores, Water Liars, and many new and old friends to help us ring in another year of rock n roll and debauchery (sponsored by Lagunitas Brewing Co). From the crack of noon until 6PM we'll be partying at 1510 S Congress Ave.

Over the last 20 years we have had the privilege of hosting the following artists (and collaborations) at the Bloodshot Records Yard Dog SXSW day party...

Thank you to each and every one of you who has trekked to South Congress amidst the madness and squeezed in the alley between the stage, the merch table, the beer tent, and the hot dog stand, in the sweltering heat (or in 1999's case, a snowstorm) to celebrate our little independent record company. Here's to 20 more years...or as long as we can take it.

Oh, and if you want this Jon Langford-designed Yard Dog 20th anniversary tee, you can get one here (there will be gone in no time).
