Random Wax: Steve Pierce (of Banditos) - The Rolling Stones 'Goats Head Soup'

March 11th, 2016 by bsradmin

We like to listen to vinyl on Fridays here at BSHQ. Every Friday we have a Bloodshot crew member randomly select a record from his/her personal collection and bring it to the office. The person has to explain why the album is on his/her shelves, and then we listen to it. We call this Random Wax

Today's contestant is a guest star! Banditos banjo badass Steve Pierce sent us his pick all the way from Birmingham! He randomly selected Goats Head Soup by The Rolling Stones, from 1973. Here's his explanation on why it's in his collection:

"I found this gem at the Big Saver Thrift in Roebuck, Alabama, where I grew up. It's not really a thrift store known for great vinyl, but on that day, I hit the jackpot. Mixed in with the "Jazz W/ Strings" albums, I found original pressings of Exile on Main Street, Let It Bleed, and Goats Head Soup for $1.99 a piece! This one doesnt get as much play because Exile is an al- time favorite of mine, but im glad I had a reason to reconnect with it. That riff in "Dancing With Mr. D"...whew!"
