We like to listen to vinyl on Fridays here at BSHQ. Every Friday we have a Bloodshot crew member randomly select a record from his/her personal collection and bring it to the office. The person has to explain why the album is on his/her shelves, and then we listen to it. We call this Random Wax.
Today's contestant is a guest star! Current (and excellent) Bloodshot intern Riley Vance randomly selected West Side Story: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, from 1961. (Yes, Bloodshot is going Broadway!) Here's her explanation on why it's in her collection:
"One particularly crummy day back when I was a high school freshman, I was rummaging through dusty VHS tapes (remember those?) in the TV room of my house and I came across West Side Story. I had never seen it before, but as a self-proclaimed theater nerd at the time, I decided it was time I checked it out. After that I was the biggest West Side Story fan. I got tickets to see the live production; I found a copy of the movie script,;I sang the songs in my voice lessons; and it all made me feel good. Ever since the first time I watched it, West Side Story has been my go-to movie and soundtrack whenever I'm feeling down or homesick, so this past summer when I was tabbing through old, used, and discount vinyl in the record store, and I saw the West Side Story soundtrack for $3.00, I had no reason not to get it."
