We like to listen to vinyl on Fridays here at BSHQ. Every Friday we have a Bloodshot crew member randomly select a record from his/her personal collection and bring it to the office. The person has to explain why the album is on his/her shelves, and then we listen to it. We call this Random Wax.
Today's contestant is superstar Bloodshot intern Elise Shell! She randomly selected Elvis Costello's Almost Blue from 1981. Here's her explanation on why it's in her collection:
"Elvis Costello was one of my first concerts as an early teen with my dad. I was young and had just starting to figure out my taste in music. Of course, as a teen, I was anti-anything-my-parents-liked, but Elvis Costello was something my dad and I shared. After the show, I listened to nothing but Elvis Costello for weeks. It’s one of my favorite memories. This particular record, Almost Blue, is Costello covering classic country tunes in his way. It has a sticker on the front cover that reads WARNING! - THIS ALBUM CONTAINS COUNTRY & WESTERN MUSIC AND MAY PRODUCE RADICAL REACTIONS IN NARROW MINDED PEOPLE. Great."
