A story of revenge, betrayal and a long voyage hindered by interventions of the gods. The Bloomington, Indiana, quartet are emerging as true artists in the zero-boundary sense: cinematic storytellers whose albums come together in an essential whole, and players whose jaw-dropping performances on record make you yearn for the chance to experience their energy up close and in person.

Recorded with Grammy-winning producer Trina Shoemaker (Queens Of The Stone Age, Emmylou Harris, Iggy Pop) at Dark Horse studios in Tennessee, the Vagrant Records debut captures the drama and nuance of MBD's sound without compromising a lick of the band's energy.

It is, as singer/guitarist Adam Turla tells it, an epic tale of revenge, along the lines of Homer's Odyssey, without the honorable character at the center

Short Description
  • Brings all the band's elements into tight focus and cooks it at 425 degrees for 35 minutes. And it burns.

    — Dallas Observer
  • Brims with classic Middle American imagery of death and revenge festering amidst hope for redemption. The band animates these themes with a cinematic approach to structure and melody, part Arcade Fire and part early Radiohead, all anchored by singer Adam Turla’s molasses drawl.

    — Paste
  • The characters in Turla's songs are alive, relatable, and utterly fascinating, all while showing his quantum-leap forward as a songwriter.

    — PopMatters
  • Equal parts Old West drama and Old Testament justice.

    — The Gauntlet
