NEW ROSIE FLORES STREAMING ON MTV HIVE

The title track of Rosie Flores' new album Working Girl's Guitar is streaming on MTV Hive.

As they say: "Few album-openers more effectively assert the artist’s identity than the title track to Rosie Flores’ new solo album, Working Girl’s Guitar. The song is an up-front, declarative statement of purpose, from its surf-inspired opening riff to Flores’ strong voice belting out the lines, “I’m a working girl’s guitar / playing towns / travel far” — a fair summation of the life of the 61-year-old guitar slinger who sings the words."

Have a listen HERE, and look for the album in stores and on online on October 16th

We're Having a Birthday Party and You're Invited!

Barely BS

In late July, Bloodshot turned 18!!  In that hazy, crazy summer of '94, we put out a little compilation to alleviate our boredom (Angry Birds hadn't been invented yet...I know...it was like the Stone Age) and try and get into to shows for free.  It features the first widely available recordings of Bottle Rockets, Robbie Fulks, The Handsome Family, and provided Jon Langford with more opportunities to make music...

And now we're old enough to do things  like vote, buy pornography and Lotto tickets, get a Sam's Club membership,  get a home loan (and allow banks to screw us), sue somebody (like a bank), get sued, be convicted as adults, buy tobacco, buy Nicorette gum, enter the Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes....ah the world is our oyster.....

To celebrate, we're throwing at Party!  5 Bands!  Beer Tastings!

Sounds like heaven to us.

HERE ARE THE DETAILS!

While you're in the festive mood, check out our August sale highlighting artists connected to that very first album.

Justin Townes Earle will curate two evenings of music entitled "In the Spirit of Woody Guthrie" on October 26th and 27th at Pace University / Pace Presents Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts in New York, NY. Marking Guthrie's centennial celebration, the nights will also feature music from Joe Pug, The Low Anthem and John McCauley of Deer Tick. For ticket information, visit the Pace online box office.

The final album from rockabilly legend Janis Martin will finally get its audience, thanks in part to our own rockabilly filly, Rosie Flores. Rosie is also currently writing to follow up to her Bloodshot debut, Girl of the Century.

Whitey Morgan and the 78s are pounding the hot pavement this summer, and gathering some great press, including this solid review from the Washington Post and this feature from Creative Loafing.

JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE PRODUCES NEW WANDA JACKSON ALBUM

Rockabilly icon and personal hero of ours Wanda Jackson (who we love so much, we did a tribute album of her music) is back in the studio with Justin Townes Earle producing.  The album will be out in October on Sugar Hill Records.

As JTE tells it, he encouraged her to return to her roots.

"From day one I really liked Justin's idea to take me back to my roots and make a record of country, blues, and rockabilly songs," Jackson tells Rolling Stone. "The band was extra tight and great to work with during the whole process. The record just sounds terrific and I'm hoping that my fans enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it."

Rolling Stone posted this video from the studio in Nashville with some snippets of the new songs.  Watch it HERE.
